1937 Citroen C6 Convertible “Citroenette”

By bubblescountNo Comments

Built and sold as a way to increase sales of his full size automobiles, Andre Citroen (the “Henry Ford”) of Europe, hoped that by appealing to children, their parents would buy his cars.

The Citroenette was originally powered by a Ducelier 12V electric motor with a top speed of 10 km/h. 2000 units were produced and approximately 30 remain, with the finest example present.

A photo taken at an exhibition race in Marseilles, France. Races like these were held across France in upscale, fashionable cities such as Cannes, the Touquet Esplanade, and the boards of Deauville. Henry Ford bought a Citroenette for his granddaughter Josephine, requesting a specialized version that had a key. Although not on display currently, Josephine Ford’s Citroenette is housed at the Ford Museum in Dearborn, MI.
