In 1949, a specialized factory was constructed in Wales to employ disabled Welsh miners and was called the Austin Junior Car Factory. They produced high quality pedal cars out of scrap metal from the Longbridge Austin car factory.
The cars were finished with the same auto paint as their larger counterparts and were very well built. The original price was 27 pounds plus 6 pounds tax. This was about 2-3 weeks full wages for an average worker at the time. Many of them were used on carousel type rides in later years.
