Joseph Edy, a candy maker and William Dreyer, and ice cream maker joined forces in Oakland, CA in 1928 to form Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream Co. With their combined talents, the duo invented a very popular new flavor dubbed “Rocky Road”. This truck was used to deliver their (now famous) ice cream flavors.
First introduced in 1917, these trucks we commonly sold as just a chassis for about $650, with most owners supplying their own body. Equipped with a 20-horsepower, 177 cu. in. inline four-cylinder engine and a top speed of 22 mph, these trucks didn’t go anywhere fast. The Model TT was replaced by the Model AA in 1928.
